B is for Bumblebee, Baby, and Boy

So, on March 8th, RK and AS hosted a baby shower for SO and LO and their little boy to be, "Ziggie".  They did such a great job!  They decided to go with a bee theme partly because they knew I had said "Be good, be kind, be sweet, behave, be,be,be,be,be - Be You!" almost every time my kids left the house.  And partly because the baby's room theme is yellow and gray chevron's.
Here's a picture of the precious invitation RK created:

They did a great job decorating AS's home using yellow, gray, and white with touches of bees and chevrons around.  AS made creamed honey with precious tags and labels for everyone to take home and there was a table for addressing envelopes and we also asked everyone that attended to write a prayer on the chevron board for display in "Ziggie's" room (I didn't do a very good job describing this so it was more wishes for the parents than prayers for Ziggie and they didn't really write along the line of the chevron and the pencil was smearing but I think it will still be special.)

RK also an adorable "buzz on in" sign for the front door, a BaBEE O sign that hung on a door inside and the below sign with the "Be" saying we based the theme on that hung in AS's living room behind one of the games we played.  The game was "Bee-nko", a take-off of Plinko from The Price is Right.  We had several items that the guests were to guess the price of and then the one closest without going over received a "bee-nko" chip that they then dropped down the Bee-nko board to receive their prize.  It worked pretty well and I think everyone pretty much had fun with it.  The prizes consisted of a variety of Burt's Bee's items, a candle that looked like a bee hive, and a candle smelled like honeysuckle.  There was also a "zonk" prize that SO ended up winning from the other game - it was a Honeycomb children's game.

The second game was baby bottle bowling.  SO likes bowling and AS and RS's house had a nice hallway for it so that was fun.

Along with the games, we had a "mobile" station that RK worked tirelessly on.  It was decided to make a mobile for Ziggie's room that would consist of the alphabet and some styrofoam balls all covered in yarn.  We asked the guests to take a minute to help by wrapping a ball in yarn.

The food items were a lot of fun.  RK found the perfect chevron plates and napkins at Hobby Lobby and we turned the napkins into "bowties" with the utensils - adorable.

We had "Bee Nectar" of lemonade and water next to the "pond" of duckies.

There were Chick-fil-a Mini Nuggets in honey buttered rolls and BEEf brisket and Bar-BEE-Q Pork sliders (Thanks TLS).

There was a lovely Caprese Salad, Pasta Salad, Asian BEErocoli Slaw, and these BaBEE twice baked potatoes that SO requested.

For dessert we had these precious Chocolate Covered Strawberries,

Sweet Honey Bear Pool Party Brownies,

Honey Mix that consisted of Honey Smacks Cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios, Honey Kix, Honeycomb Cereal, Honey Teddy Grahams, and Banana Chips all mixed together and coated with a sweet coating.

Nabisco even joined in the fun and came out with these Spring "OrBEEo's" complete with a bee on the cookie top!

The guests of honor had a corsage and boutonnierre made from bottle brushes, baby socks, and a mitten accented with a couple of bees.

A dear friend shared some special thoughts on parenting following the "Be" theme that had us all with a special tear in our eye and then they opened the abundance of gifts they were showered it.

So very thankful for such great family and friends!

Oct 30 and 31st 2013

What a special Halloween!  I felt like I had to get it all in one location so I decided to blog it.
Sara and Landon topped it off by letting the world in on the fact that they have a "bun in the oven" by dressing up as a Bun Maker and Oven for their church's Trunk or Treat.

And then Cara participated in her first Fall Festival at our church by being the pumpkin that turned into Cinderella's carriage to take her to meet her Prince Charming. (Amy wore that dress to prom when they were in high school)

And Stevie and Becca were as creative as always and still go together "like bacon and eggs".
I didn't get a picture of Terry but he was once again the best looking "Love Monster" I know. (He has a t-shirt that says Love Monster on it)
I changed things up this year and did't go as a black stick pen (dressed in all black with a piece of silver duct tape down my arm to be the clip on the cap of the pen.).  My new title of Grandmother (Grammie, Grandma, Grammy, Mimmie, or whatever it will be) as of this year warranted a new costume, thus, I give you "Grammie's Brag Book" complete with pictures of Cara, Moose, Nala, and "cinna bun" aka Zggie.

I topped the day off with a call to my daddy to tell him Happy Birthday.  It sounded like he had had a very good but long day.  They had gone up to Jackson to see Carmen and Richard in a play at their school and then visited a couple of Ibby's cousin's and then picked up Elizabeth to have dinner with them back at Rick and Celina's house.

Cara's First Play Date

I had to make sure I could find this again.  It's too priceless to forget about and Amy's comment below is makes it that much better!
Clara and Cara had their first play date last week. "They" played dress up  I'm pretty sure Cara is wondering why her mother brought her over to play with this crazy girl, but my Clara sure had fun. — withAmy Stockholm.
