BaByQ

What fun we had on Saturday, May 4, 2013!  Instead of a traditional Baby Shower, we had a Backyard Barbeque for Amy and Richie.  It was so much fun.  We pretty much invited anyone that wanted to come - ended up with 86 bodies/36 family units.  It was a bit crowded/chaotic at times but I think everyone was able to maneuver around and eventually find a comfortable spot to visit with someone.
Amy and Richie had suggested the Barbeque idea and location (our house because of the back yard) and then provided the invite idea and we used the colors they are decorating the baby's room in - navy & fucshia (not hot pink-dark pink with some purpleishness to it) Here's a picture of the Momma and Daddy to be on the front porch of our house next to a little chair all ready for baby-to-be and a watering can and flowers provided by Amy's mother, Cathy - she provided a bunch of beautiful flowers for all over the house.

We had all kinds of food.  Cathy brought pasta salad, potato salad, baby veggies, tea, etc., and the cutest watermelon carved into a baby carriage complete with baby face peeking out with grapes for hair , eyes, and nose - sooo cute.
Terry had smoked a brisket and made some bacon chicken bombs that were da' bomb and Gary had made his salmon dip and brought shrimp (pink things).  There were whoppie pies, and spice muffins, and cookie dough truffles and sugar and spice popcorn, and every baby veggie and fruit you can think of and some I never knew existed.  There were meatballs and spasagna, baby pigs in a blanket, baby pizza bites, and I forget what all else.
Instead of traditional baby shower games, we had backyard games for people and kids to play as they so desired.  There was Nappy Tabs which was cornhole but with diapers to toss instead of bean bags - Team 1 was yellow and Team 2 was brown :).  Binky Spit was like a watermelon seed spitting contest but with baby pacifiers.  Teething Ring Fling was ladder ball with teething rings on a string instead of golf balls and then there was Stroller Croquet where you had to race with a stroller around the croquet wickets with a baby in the stroller.  There were also some jump ropes out for Jumping Princesses.

I also had sheets out for Baby Guesses to date, time, hair color, weight, etc.  We had asked everyone to bring a prayer to add to a prayer tree for baby to be and I think it turned out pretty well.  This is a picture of it at the beginning but when it was all completed it was all filled it very nicely.

Overall, I think it was a very fun day.  Everyone was very generous and they received many nice things for baby for which we are truly grateful!
